Lois Ferne (Shaffer) Warner was received into the waiting arms of her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Tuesday, November 6, 2012. Her passing was as seamless as breathing her last breath of polluted earthly air and in her next breath, taking in the pure sweet atmosphere of heaven.
Her journey in time began 92 years ago in a little house on Ash Street in Ventura, California. On March 9, 1920 she was welcomed by her brother Donald, and by her parents, Maude and Albert Shaffer, long-time residents and owners of Shaffer’s Sporting Goods, a former business in downtown Ventura (its location now occupied by Tipps Thai).
Lois was a devoted wife to Frank Warner whom she married in November 1941. Two years later twins were born to the couple, a boy and a girl. In 1947 she gave birth to a second daughter, and in 1954 to another son.
She enjoyed and was fulfilled by her role as a homemaker, lovingly pouring herself into her family. She was a valuable spiritual mentor to her children and to many others in the community. She loved serving the Lord with acts of kindness, and gave generously of herself and her time to others.
Lois is survived by her four children: sons, Dan Warner of Redding and Phil Warner (wife Annette) of Ventura; daughters, Donna Williams (husband Dick) of Boise, Idaho and Mary Warner of Ventura; also daughter-in-law, Shirley Warner. She also leaves behind 7 grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren, 4 great-great grandchildren, numerous cousins, nieces and nephews, and many close family friends.
The family wishes to make mention of and thank the hospice team of loving people who faithfully and tenderly ministered to Lois for as long as she needed their care.
There will be a “Remembering Lois Celebration” on Friday, November 16, 2012 at 11:00 A.M. at Community Presbyterian Church, 1555 Poli Street, Ventura.
