Pat was born on May 15, 1941 in Seattle Washington to Patrick and Doris Haley. She spent most of her childhood in Cupertino, Ca where she graduated from Freemont High School, class of 1959. She graduated with a degree in Parks and Recreation from San Jose State University in 1965. Pat married Ed Lyon in 1963 after meeting at San Jose State. After moving to Camarillo, Ca, Pat began raising her family. In 1978, she started the first Youth Ministry program at St. Mary Magdalen’s Catholic Church in Camarillo, Ca. In 1983, Pat received a special commendation from Pope John Paul for her work with the youth and foster children. The following year the Ventura County Commission for Women honored Pat with the “Salute to Women Award”. In 1987 Pat became the Youth Minister of Our Lady of the Assumption Catholic Church in Ventura, Ca where she continued her good works with the youth till her retirement in 2004. However, she missed interacting with young people and began working at Pacific High School, where she managed the Resource center. Here, too, she was able to have a positive impact on many students until her second retirement in 2017. She was passionate about helping young people and followed that passion her entire life.
Her life was rich with achievements including: being the first woman baseball manager in the Pleasant Valley Baseball Little League, founding the YMCA Y-Indian Maidens program in Ventura County; and winning the Ventura County Women’s Bowling Championship with her good friend Barbara Churchman.
Most important to Pat were her family, friends, and her love of Christ. She loved her husband, Ed, deeply during 55 years of marriage.
Pat is survived by her loving husband, Ed Lyon; children: Dan Lyon (Luz), Kathie Gremaud (Dan); Ron Lyon, Venessa Hale (Brady), and Jim Lyon; siblings: Mike Haley (Diana), Cindy Hermit (Ray), Sue Hook (Stan), and Tom Haley; grandchildren: Austin Lyon, Monique Gremaud, Sierra Garman, P.J.
