

Randy was a Chief Petty Officer in the United States Navy as a Chief Engineman, serving from 1939 to 1959. After retiring from the Navy, Randy continued his career with the U.S. Government as a Quality Assurance Inspector for over 45 years.
He was preceded in death by the love of his life, Zana Ruth (Scharf) Hauge; daughter, Barbara Jean (Hauge) Callender; two brothers, Harold and Vernon and his infant baby sister.
Randy is survived by his son and daughter-in-law, Richard R. Hauge and Ann Hewitt; grandchildren, Robert Callender Jr., Kimberly (McCants) and Daniel Callender; as well as seven great-grandchildren.
His final and beloved friend was his Cocker Spaniel, “Buster.”
Randy lived in Venice, California for 63 years, always staying true to his
Norwegian and South Dakota roots: dignity and pride. “Vi elsker deg,
pappa. Si hei til mamma og Barbara.”
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, October 9, 2013, from 3:00pm until 7:00pm, at the Ted Mayr Funeral Home, 3150 Loma Vista Road, Ventura. A graveside service will take place on Thursday, October 10, 2013, 2:00pm, at Woodlawn Cemetery, 1847 14th Street, in Santa Monica, with The Reverend Dan Hull officiating.
