Ruby Mae Erskine Johnson

Ruby was born on June 21, 1923, to John Henry Erskine and Ida Mae Jackson in New Castle, Indiana. She passed on Tuesday, March 5, 2013, forty years to the day from the death of husband, Anson Morgan Saunders, in her beloved Ventura, California.

While on vacation visiting friends Bill & Mildred Farrell, Ruby discovered California and fell in love. She and her family threw caution to the wind and moved to California in the early 1960’s. Ruby loved living by the ocean and never regretted the move.

She was a devoted mother and I shall miss her love, laughter and council everyday until my end.

Ruby’s parents, John & Ida Erskine; sisters, Julia & Maxine; husbands, Anson M. Saunders and John N. Johnson, preceded her in death.

She leaves behind, daughter, Deborah Lee Saunders; granddaughter, Jennifer Ann Castillo, and a plethora of stories to be shared with friends.

We want to thank Treacy Villa and Assisted Home Hospice for the excellent care they gave Ruby.
