Our beloved Mother and grandmother, Viola Fellin Osborne, went peacefully to be with Jesus in Heaven at home surrounded by her loving family on Saturday, February 10, 2018, following a brief illness.
Mom was 92 years young and was a resident of Ventura, California, for 62 years. She was born on April 2, 1925, in the small town of Ouray, nestled in the Rocky Mountains of Colorado. It was there that Mom developed a love of medicine and biology after watching her father "doctor" the family livestock. She went on to Loretto Heights College in Denver, after receiving a scholarship, where she received her bachelor’s degree in Chemistry with a minor in Biology. Mom's career goal was to become a Medical Doctor but after the years in College her heart yearned to meet the man of her dreams and start the family she so desperately wanted.
Mom moved to Ventura, California and worked in the lab at Foster Memorial Hospital as a medical technologist. She met the man of her dreams, Thomas Osborne Sr. on a blind date, who became our Father. Mom and Dad married after his return from duty in the Korean War in the United States Marine Corps and started their family shortly after. Mom and Dad lived in Ouray, Colorado, in the beginning of their marriage and then moved back to Ventura, California, where they both lived out the rest of their lives. She worked again at Foster Memorial Hospital as a Medical technologist for a few years while our Dad went back to College and earned his law degree. Mom also earned another degree during this time PHT- "putting Hubby through." She then became a stay at home mom where she enjoyed raising her children, reading, tending to her rose garden, playing Scrabble and doing crossword puzzles.
Our Mom AKA "Vi" was best known for her beautiful colorful roses, delicious and delectable meals, scrumptious baked goods with lemon meringue pie winning the top prize, her joyous sense of humor and adorable "giggle and laughter." Most of all we celebrate Mom for her kindness and love that she showered on all who knew her.
We celebrate her life as she will forever be in our hearts until we see her again someday in Heaven. As difficult as it is to lose our Mom we rejoice in the comfort knowing that she is in a much better place for eternity.
"In my Father's house are many mansions: if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you." John 14:2 KJV
Viola is survived by, Thomas B. Osborne JR (Peg), Timothy F. Osborne (Connie), Terri L. Curtis (Tim), Tammi M. Fugate (Harlan), and blessed with multiple grandchildren, and great grandchildren.
