

Bill Carr, a man of God, much beloved husband and father, and cherished grandfather, peacefully entered into the Kingdom of Heaven on June 6, 2012. He was born November 20, 1928 in Alicia, Arkansas and graduated from Newport High School in Newport, AR in 1948. Bill moved to Oxnard, CA in 1950, honorably served in the U.S. Army in the Korean War, and returned to Oxnard, CA in 1952. He asked God for a Christian companion and said he did not even care if she had freckles. When he saw Claudia June with her red hair and freckles, he immediately knew she was the one. They were married in July, 1953. Together with God they fought the storms of life for 59 years.
Bill worked at Southern California Gas Company for 40 years: Starting as a crewman and worked his way up to Distribution Construction Supervisor. He was also a founding member of the El Rio Baptist Church.
He is survived by his wife Claudia June (Lively) Carr, three children including daughter Joanne Carr Linn, Whittier, CA; son William Bob Carr, Ventura, CA; son Dr. Matthew Carr, Carpinteria, CA; and granddaughters Lauren Linn, Portland, OR; Katie Linn, Whittier, CA; BreAnne Carr, Camarillo, CA; and Brook Carr, Ventura, CA.
The family wishes to thank all of the many angels along the way: Dr. and Mrs Speitel and their wonderful office staff; Paul and Anita Wilvert; all of our wonderful neighbors; Linda Yuncker for her support and services; Steve Henschel for his wonderful tri-tips; the firefighters at Ventura County Fire Department Station # 51; Costco Pharmacy staff; Vanessa and staff at First Choice Medical Supply; Ann, RN, from Livingston Home Health; and all of the nurses and aides from Livingston Hospice.
Funeral services were held, Wednesday, June 13, 12:30 P.M. at the Ted Mayr Funeral Home, 3150 Loma Vista Rd, with internment to follow at Ivy Lawn Memorial Park, 5400 Valentine Rd, Ventura.
