Aversa, Mario , passed away peacefully on Wednesday, November 5, 2025, at the Verdun Hospital in Montreal, Quebec, at the age of 84. His passing came after a brave year and a half of dialysis, succumbing to various health complications. Mario was the devoted husband of Bianca Boggia.
He was the loving parent of Silvia (Jean-François Lévesque) and Graziano. Mario was the cherished Nonno to his grandchildren: Charles Pitman (and his partner Breanna), Marianne Lévesque, and Victor Lévesque.
He was predeceased by his brothers, Lorenzo (Antonia) and the younger Graziano, after whom his son was named. He leaves to mourn his siblings, Antonio (Elizabeth), Domenic (Andrea), Giacomo (Angela), and Carmelo, as well as many nieces, nephews, and friends.
Born in Torre di Ruggiero, Calabria, Italy, Mario immigrated to Canada September 19 th , 1955, at the age of 14. He embodied the spirit of a true Montrealer, building a life through sheer determination and a willingness to tackle any job. Over the years, he delivered coffee, worked at Chalet BBQ and Steinberg, sold and installed windows, and drove a taxi. He finally found stability working 28 years for the City of LaSalle, where he retired at the age of 59.
Retirement, however, was just a new chapter for Mario. He continued to work tirelessly, delivering the Metro newspaper, driving an 18-wheeler for deliveries across the US, and finally working as a driver for Loyal Express, which he only left due to the onset of Covid at the age of 79. His philosophy was simple: all work no matter what, has value, a work ethic he proudly passed on to his children.
Mario loved his family, making several cherished trips back to Italy with his wife and son Graziano, including a final special trip with his daughter Silvia in 2023. His great pleasure was keeping in touch with the people in his life, regularly phoning family, friends, neighbors, nieces, and former colleagues. Even while undergoing dialysis, he ensured to brighten the days of the nurses, showing his gratitude with chocolates, homemade pasta, and Panettone at Christmas. He will be deeply missed by his family and all who knew and loved him. Service Information
