Stella was born on September 21, 1957 to Johanna VanderPluym and Franczizek (Frank) Stosik in Montreal. Beloved sister of Saskia, Frank (Angela), Johanna and others. Loving aunt to many nephews and nieces.
After Stella graduated from St Paul’s Academy in Westmount, she went on to study briefly at various high schools before moving to Toronto. Stella battled mental illness for most of her adulthood and her family was unable to stabilize her life. Although, she was without a home for many years, Stella was open hearted and attracted loving souls along her journey. Stella was social, artistic, kind and loved her many friends. She was also a beautiful rebel and did things her way.
She danced through life on her terms and never surrendered to the injustice of her situation. The legacy that Stella leaves behind is one of a devoted friend, full of compassion, resilient and strong. Her family will miss her her deeply. We will will honour her memory by ensuring our government focuses on humanity above all else.
A Memorial Service will be held at a later date. The wake will be at Résidences Funéraires Laurent Thériault 512 rue de l'Église on February 3rd from noon-2:pm and 5:00-8:00 pm. The service will start from 7:00 pm to 8:00pm There is a 25 person max due to Covid restrictions. Non Vaxxed welcome.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to La Rue Des Femmes, an organization that provided loving support to Stella during her many times of need.
