

SCALES, Stephen. Suddenly on Tuesday May 5th 2020 at the age of 67. He was predeceased by his parents the late George Scales and mother May (Thomas) and his nephew James Scales. He is survived by his loving wife Joyce Aline Sorel, Stepson Nathan Thompson (Kelli O’neil) and beloved grandson Emmett. All of Dartmouth Nova Scotia. Also surviving are his brother David Scales (Carole), Bob Scales (Beverly) and all their families.
Steve was a longtime employee of Concordia University and was responsible for maintenance of the public copiers. Since he traveled both campus’s he became a familiar face to students, faculty and support staff.
In his younger years, he was the lead singer for a local circuit band called “Mother Boogie”. He sang with them for many years, but for this last part of his life sang in a church choir. He performed solo pieces many times, mainly gospel and blues.
Steve was a gentle soul who genuinely liked and took great interest in people. He was an elder in his church and kept in touch with many of the senior members who could no longer attend church on a regular basis.
He was a simple man who liked simple things; watching the squirrels and the birds in the backyard. He talked to his cats, drank tea, loved his mother and adored his wife.

Due to the present situation a service of remembrance will be held at a later date in Southwest United Church 1442 Clemenceau St. in Verdun. The announcement will be on this website.
Donations may be made to the Montreal SPCA, Toronto Humane Society, and the Canadian Wildlife Federation
In the meantime, wear some tie die or orange shoelaces in his memory.
