Alan Birtles

Alan Birtles It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Alan, just shy of what would have been his 79th birthday. He leaves behind his wife and best friend of 55 years, Patricia, daughter Michele (Darcy), son Rob (Judi), and two grandchildren Bree (Keevn) and Chase. Although we are deeply saddened, we will take comfort in many loving memories. For that we are blessed. A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, April 13, 2019 at 1:00 P.M at the Army, Navy & Airforce Veterans Hall, 2500 46 Avenue, Vernon, BC.

Dear Pat and family,
I was shocked to hear of Alan's passing, having enjoyed a great chat with Alan and Pat when I ran into them about a year ago. I worked with Alan and Pat from the early 80's to their retirements in Community Nursing and Long Term Care. Alan was always upbeat, rarely seen without a smile and a cheerful greeting. His laughter was deep and resounding, no mistaking it was Alan. And of course I will miss his very British brogue!
A memory I have is the staff's surprise birthday tea and cake for Alan's 50th. I will never forget his look of terror and panic when he heard this risqué music coming ever closer towards the coffee room and the sudden appearance of a woman scantily dressed, complete with a boa feather. She proceeded to sit on his knee and wrap it round his neck. He took it all in great humour and somewhere out there are pictures of this memorable and fun event.
Thinking of you Pat, and all the family, during this difficult time.
