Connie Fayth Harvey

We regret to announce the death of Connie Harvey on February 3, 2015 at Vernon Jubilee Hospital. Connie was born on August 6, 1953 in Vernon, BC and was the only child of Roy and Theresa Shewchuck. As a child Connie enjoyed her school work and when she graduated from Vernon Senior Secondary she planned to further her education. Her dream was to become a nurse; unfortunately, due to health problems she could not continue her studies. Although Connie did not become a nurse, she was a caregiver for family members and friends over the years and was very knowledgeable when she was dealing with health care professionals.

She met Doug Harvey in Vernon and marriage soon followed in January 1973. Connie was most happy visiting with friends, going to Tim Horton’s for coffee, and was a long time parishioner at St. James Roman Catholic Church. Her deep faith sustained her all her life and was a comfort to her in the past few years as her health declined. Connie was predeceased by her father Roy in 1987, her mother Theresa in 1989 and her husband Doug in 1996.

Thank you to Vernon Jubilee Hospital 2 East staff for all the compassion shown to Connie during her brief stay there. Connie is survived by her good friend John Stefanichik and numerous friends who will miss her humour, wisdom, and compassion.

A memorial Mass will be celebrated Saturday February 14 at 1:00 PM at St. James Roman Catholic Church, with Father Dale Normandeau, celebrant.
