
Elsie was born in London, England and arrived in Canada with her mother Sarah, brother Jack, and sisters Connie and Winnie after their father was killed in World War 1. They settled in New Westminster and this is where Elsie met her husband Charles of 68 years and they raised two children. They retired to Salt Spring Island and after 20 years moved to Chemainus.
Elsie was predeceased by her husband Charles in 2006 and her two sisters, Winnie Chappel, 2006 and Connie Pettijohn, 2009.
Elsie will be lovingly remembered and missed by her daughter Joan (Wayne) of Vernon, BC and son Kenneth (Marilyn) of Mission, BC. She will be sadly missed by 9 grandchildren, 20 great grandchildren and 1 great-great grandson.
After the passing of her husband in 2006, Elsie moved to Vernon to be near her family and spent the last 4 years at Heron Grove which she enjoyed and made many new friends. The family appreciates the love and care that the staff gave in her remaining years. She will be sadly missed by her many friends, near and far.
Elsie loved her family, was an avid reader and, because of this, Heron Grove’s library grew loved baseball and especially her team, the Blue Jays. She also liked to watch tennis and play bingo.
