Helen Pheigh Lorenson

14 July, 19473 March, 2021

It is with great sadness that we share with you the passing of Helen Pheigh Lorenson. Helen was surrounded by family, which we are extremely grateful for. Helen was born to Arthur and Lillian in Nelson, B.C. on July 14, 1947. She grew up in the Nelson, South Slocan and Trail area with her two younger sisters, Rhoberta (Bill) and Barbara (Bruce), where she acquired her love of fishing and gardening with her Grandparents Jock and Olive. Helen loved the West Kootenays, but made the warm Okanagan home with her daughter, Lee-Anne (favourite S.I.L. Richard), son Jason (Michele) and of course, her loving life partner Donnie, (Darcy and Lisa and grandchildren Hailey and Hillary and Tyler and Jen and grandchildren Talia and Steel. And of course, her little sidekick, Abby. Helen loved her family and loved being a Grandma to her Cole (Kathy), Jordan (Meaghan) great grandkids Atrayu, Jupiter, Faye-Ella, Banyan, Cypress and Maya-Lou, and Brendan (Dana). She was also the favourite Auntie to Cristie (Marty), Brianna, (Danny), Evan (Kim), Ryan (Emma), and Great Auntie to Megann and April. Helen and Don spent every winter travelling to warm destinations soaking up the sun and collecting shells on the beach. Helen loved camping and hosting many "Happy Hours" and parties including her famous “POW” (Piss-On-Winter) parties with her many close friends from “the Hood”. Helen made many friends and was the warm smile at RBC Polson Place for over 30 years. Don and Helen were always there for people in their darkest moments which was why she had so many caring, loving people in her circle. Helen was always the life of the party which inevitably ended up in the kitchen because that’s where she was, making snacks and appies and it was also the best place to dance. Helen celebrated every single one of her birthdays with a big party, usually starting before her actual birthday and lasting at least a week, wearing the wildest sunglasses she could buy. So in keeping with tradition, we will be celebrating in her honor this July, wearing her wildest shades. We would also like to say a big thank you to Dr Deetlev and the stellar nursing staff at Vernon Jubilee Hospital, in particular the nurses of Level 7.

Donations can be made in lieu of flowers to the Heart and Stroke Foundations and or VJH Foundation.

So sorry to hear of Helen's struggle with life as she knw it. Such a happy and vibrant sole. My condolences to Donnie and her family & friends. A very sad loss for all who knew her. I can still see her in that little boat out on Till Lake looking for the elusive rainbow trout.

We are so sorry to hear of Helen's passing. Thoughts are with Donnie and the rest of the family. I like to think of Helen and Trish somewhere still laughing and being the life of the party!
