James was born in Paisley, Scotland and moved to Vernon in 1976. A long standing member of the Vernon Yacht Club and a member of numerous service clubs, Jimmy loved life – he loved laughing and having fun. Margaret and Jimmy travelled a great deal of the world together. He was a businessman, who started Apple Valley Automotive, GEL Automotive, and Claire Glass Ltd. – where he left his mark with glass etching. Following these personal ventures, he was employed by the Vernon Subaru dealership and Vernon Hyundai. Jimmy was hardworking and dedicated to his clients and his craft.
Jimmy was a loving husband to Margaret, dedicated father to his two beautiful daughters, Claire and Rebecca, and wonderful grandfather to his grandsons, Owan and Arron, of whom he was extremely proud. He is further survived by his sister, Maureen McKelvie and family of Paisley, Scotland; and brother-in-law, Donald Clark and family of Wemyss Bay, Scotland.
The Celebration of Life will be held at 12 Noon on Sunday, June 8th, 2014 in the chapel of Pleasant Valley Funeral Home with The Reverend Doctor Teresa Charleton, officiating. A reception will be held at 1:30 p.m. at the Vernon Yacht Club, 7919 Okanagan Landing Road, Vernon, B.C.
