Joan Elsie Bailey

Our beloved and very devoted mother, (Joan) Elsie Bailey, passed away October 16th, 2025. She was predeceased by her loving husband and our father, Kenneth Bailey, who passed away on February 15th, 2020. Elsie was born on May 20th, 1937 in Vernon BC. Kenneth was born on February 20th, 1935 in Rimbey AB . They leave behind to mourn their son Richard (Helen) Bailey of Sherwood Park AB, their daughter Katherine (James) Bailey of Vancouver, BC as well as 4 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren. Ken and Elsie were married at St. James Catholic church where they were members until their passing. They will be remembered for their passion for education and their devotion to teaching local Vernon school children. Elsie was the school music teacher at Harwood Elementary School for over 20 years, and Ken taught industrial education (wood working, electrical), math and computer science at Kalamalka Secondary School (KSS) for most of his career, briefly teaching at Charles Bloom Secondary in Lumby prior to the opening of KSS. The family has had a private Catholic blessing and internment at Pleasant Valley Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, friends wishing to do so may make donations in memory of Elsie and Ken to their favourite charity.
