On September 7, 2025 Johanna Wilhelmina Zalcik passed away in Vernon, BC. She was 79 years old. Johanna was born in the city of Leiden in the Netherlands on January 25, 1946, and she will be lovingly remembered by her siblings and relatives there, as well as cousin in Calgary. She is survived by her sons Bobby and Terry, grandaughters AMelia and Madeline, and predeceased by her husband Nick in 2014. Many Vernonites may remember Johanna from when she worked at Eaton's and then at the Hudson's Bay store. She will be dearly missed and remembered for her kindness, laughter, and generous helping nature. Funeral will be held at 11:00 am on Friday, September 12, 2025 at Our Lady of the Valley Catholic Church in Coldstream, BC. It will be immediately followed by a graveside burial ceremony at the adjoining St. Nicholas Cemetery where her late husband is buried.
