14 March, 193619 March, 2021

Laurette, loving wife, mom, grandma, great-grandma, aunt and good friend, passed away peacefully at the Vernon Jubilee Hospital with her three daughters and her very good friend, Mariann, by her side, as well as many other family members holding vigil in the wings near by.

Laurette was born and raised in Lafleche, Saskatchewan, to Fred and Victoria Desmarais. Her family made the big move to Vernon where she finished her schooling. Laurette met her husband, Art, while working at Bulman’s Cannery with her mother, Victoria, and her future mother in law.

Laurette is predeceased by her parents, Fred and Victoria, brother, Paul (Donna). Laurette is survived by her loving husband, Arthur, their three daughters, Lucille (Art), Maxine (Ed), Denise (Shane). Grandchildren: Brad (Amy), Chris (Kara), Michelle (Colin), Marianne (Mike), Erik (Wayne), Mallory (David). Step Grandchildren, Jason (Stephanie), Heidi (Boyd). Great grandchildren, Lumen, Hannah, Amber, Levi, Trinity, Dawson, Mason, Jemma and Henry. Step great-grandchildren, TJ, Aaliyah, Kyal.

Family meant everything to Laurette. A sparkle was always in her eye and a smile on her face as she spoke of them all. She kept her printer busy with up to date pictures of all her family, which she proudly posted on her fridge. On a very regular basis, Laurette, communicated with her loved ones by phone and texting and always sent her signature, “Love You” with her goodbyes. Laurette will be remembered for her laughter and sense of witty humor. Her ability to love and heal hearts. Her radiant smile and energy. Her cooking and baking fed us all.

Many Thanks to Doctor Kwantes, the nurses and staff of VJH who took such great care of Laurette and allowing her family to be with her in her final days.

We will all miss you, Laurette (Mom)! You will always be in our hearts.

We thought of you with love today, but that is nothing new. We thought of you yesterday, and days before that too. We think of you in silence, we often speak your name. All we have are memories and a picture in a frame. Your memory is a keepsake, with which we will never part. Always in our minds, forever in our hearts. We hold you close within our hearts, and there you will remain. To walk with us throughout our lives, until we meet again.
