In loving memory - Margot Mathildhe Holland (nee Reinhardt) passed away peacefully on April 6, 2026 predeceased by her loving husband Benjamin Holland in 2023. She is survived by daughter Denise Holland, son Mark Holland, son-in-law Steven Fast, daughter-in-law Jacqueline Holland, and 5 beautiful grandchildren: Natasha, Eli, Olivia, Ben, and Kamryn. The joy and love she spread on this earth will be sadly missed as she joins her family and friends that preceded her. While we are greatly saddened by this loss, we are also grateful and relieved that she may finally rest in peace.
Born in 1936 in Freystadt Germany, Margot was the second child of 6 born to her parents Freida-Marie and Daniel. She carried the burdens and loss of watching a war unfold as a child, and the joys of ultimately reuniting safely with her family in Canada in 1958. The Reinhardts moved to Mabel Lake where Margot met Ben and they fell deeply in love. Margot was a loving wife and mother, creative artist, an intellectual that studied many languages and law and was an integral part of running the farm alongside Ben and his brother Norm and wife Martha. The endless jobs of cooking, cleaning, gardening, caring for children, preserving food, building things, searching for antiques in backwoods deserted cabins or beachcombing later in life were Margot’s joys. Margot and Ben lived in Vernon since the 70s where Margot worked as a legal secretary in Vernon. Margot’s final years were spent with the wonderful staff at Heron Grove. We are grateful for the love and care they offered to her. We are especially grateful to the Reinhardt and Holland families and friends living in Vernon who have continued to visit and watch over our mother over the years.
Margot was the definition of unwavering love and support, guiding our family with quiet strength through life’s inevitable challenges. Her love of books, art and music, inspired her to create beauty around her. Margot and Ben spent much time teasing, joking, gardening and fishing in their later years and delighted in watching their grandchildren grow up. Happiest in small gatherings with the ones she loved, Margot may have come across as quiet and reserved, but she had a deep strength and wisdom that required no flash. We are blessed to have loved and be loved by such a wonderful soul.
