May 4, 1950 – October 21, 2016
Marie Monique Solange Rogers was born in Esterhazy, Saskatchewan in May 1950. After a hard-fought battle with cancer she passed away Friday, October 21st in Vernon, BC.
Marie is survived by her husband of 42 years, Earl; her three children: Erin (Gary), Devin (Caroline) and Erica (Richard); her grandchildren: Elijah, Charlotte, Isaac, Sadie-Rae, Everett, Nadia and Aidan; many other family members and friends.
Marie will be lovingly remembered by many and missed fiercely. She cared deeply about people and made friends easily as a result of her open and easygoing nature. She treasured her many family and friends as they were the most important part of her life. She took great joy especially in her grandchildren – visiting often and ensuring her continual involvement in their lives. She embraced life and filled her time with adventures – traveling, dragonboating, biking, hiking and skiing to name a few. When she was at home she spent many hours outdoors caring for her flower gardens. She loved animals in general and enjoyed time with pets when they were present in her life. She was never one to turn away a person in need, a chance at a new adventure or the opportunity to spend time with others. We are all greatly saddened at her passing.
We are all grateful for the support of the church and various medical staff that helped to care for her during her illness.
Vigil prayers will be held at 5pm Friday, November 4th and a memorial mass followed by a reception will be held at 1pm on Saturday, November 5th at Our Lady of the Valley Catholic Church in Coldstream, BC.
In lieu of flowers, friends and family wishing to make a memorial donation may do so at the McMurtry-Baerg Cancer Centre through the Vernon Jubilee Hospital Foundation (www.vjhfoundation.org/ways-to-give/donate/).
