1920 – 2014
It is with sadness that we announce the passing of Myrtle Jacklin (Nee: Crozier) on February 14, 2014 after a 12 year struggle with Alzheimer's disease. She would have been 94 years on February 27th. Myrtle was born in Northern Ireland and after immigrating to Canada in 1922, with her parents, grew up on a farm near Plenty, Saskatchewan with her sister, Hazel, and brother, Billy. Myrtle married Maurice Jacklin in 1942 and they had 3 sons and a daughter. She was a long time member of the Eastern Star and the UCW in Plenty. Myrtle and Maurice retired to Vernon in 1979 where they enjoyed golfing and gardening in the summer and curling and cards in the winter. Myrtle’s great passion was her knitting of afghans, sweaters and mitts for all her children and grandchildren.
Myrtle is survived by her sons: Gary (Rebecca) of Vernon, Graham (Barbara) of Vernon, Dale (Carolyne) of Kelowna; daughter, Maureen Armstrong of Vernon; 13 grandchildren; 15 great grandchildren; her sister, Hazel Halter of Saskatoon; several nieces and nephews; and 7 cousins in Northern Ireland. She was predeceased by her husband, Maurice in 2007, after 65 years of marriage; father, John (Jack) Crozier in 1959, and mother, Martha in 1963; brother, Billy in 1929; and granddaughter, Theresa in 1973.
The family would like to extend their sincere appreciation to Dr. Chris Cunningham and the staff at Creekside Landing Care Facility for their outstanding care given to Mom over the past four years.
