Bob was predeceased by his beloved wife, Barbara, in March 2019. Together, they built a beautiful family and a lifetime of memories that will live on for generations.
Born and raised in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Bob had the opportunity to call many places home throughout his life, including Toronto, Montreal, North Vancouver, and finally Vernon. Wherever life took him, family, friends, and travel remained at the heart of what brought him the greatest happiness.
Those who knew Bob would describe him as a genuinely kind man. He loved gathering around the dinner table with family and friends, sharing good food, stories, and laughter. He also treasured the time he spent fishing with the boys—memories they will always hold close.
Dad loved to joke around and never took himself too seriously. We will forever treasure the countless memories, stories, and laughs he gave us.
Bob was a proud father to Brian (Shelley), Bruce (Judy), and Sharon (Parker); a much-loved grandfather to Dakota (Melissa), Ryan (Natalie), Megan, Kylie (Carter), and Liam; and a very special great-grandfather to Jack and Élodie.
In his later years, even as he faced the challenges of multiple sclerosis and dementia, Dad was never one to make a fuss or complain. He met those challenges as he did so much in life—with remarkable grace, strength, and acceptance.
Rest easy now, Dad—our Bobby Bird Legs, our Suave Bobby. We will love you forever.
The family will gather for a gathering at Cates Park in North Vancouver when the time is right.
Those wishing to honour Bob’s memory are invited to consider a donation to the Alzheimer Society of Canada or the MS Society of Canada in lieu of flowers.
