Robert (Bob) Passmore, age 95, passed away peacefully on September 30, 2025, in Vernon, BC. He was deeply loved and will be missed by his wife, Marjorie, with whom he celebrated 70 years of marriage this June. Bob is also cherished by his children, Barb (Dave), Dan (Angela), Shari (Ryan), his sisters, Velma and Patricia, and his many grandchildren.
Born in Lafleche, SK, Bob spent his early years in Moose Jaw before moving to Vernon at age 11. It was then he experienced the impact of war, as his father left to fight in WWII, having also served in WWI. Bob’s interest in history, especially military history, was lifelong, often sharing stories of his father’s heroic exploits and showing off his medals.
A man of diverse passions, Bob enjoyed golfing, hunting, fishing, family history/ancestry, curling, woodworking, and gardening. He was a dedicated community member, serving with organizations like the Vernon Chamber of Commerce, Rotary Club, and Vernon Snowmobile Club, Vernon Winter Carnival Chair, among others.
In 1949, Bob moved to Victoria, where he met Marj. They raised their family in Victoria and Vernon, with Bob working in sales, management, and later, financial planning, where he was known for his integrity, hard work, and wisdom. He was a great storyteller, and while his final chapter has been written, the epilogue will continue through his legacy of honour and respect.
A Celebration of Life will be held Monday, November 10, at 11:00 AM at Pleasant Valley Funeral Home. For those unable to attend, a live stream will be available.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the BC SPCA, BC Cancer Foundation, or the Community Foundation of the North Okanagan.
