Scott is survived by his loving wife, Marney, and their three children, Tamara, Tovah (Nathan), and Ben (Marissa). Nothing brought Scott greater joy than being Grandpa to his grandchildren, Brody and Cooper, and he was eagerly looking forward to welcoming his newest grandson into the family.
He is also lovingly remembered by his sisters, Robyn (Gary), Daryl (Beau), and Jaye (Ian); sisters-in-law, Anne (Paul), Diane (Chris), and Joan; as well as many nieces, nephews, extended family members, and dear friends.
Scott was predeceased by his parents, Gloria and Jim Blain, his beloved grandson, Ty Blain, and his best friend, Terry Scott.
Scott was born on Sept. 14, 1954, in Vancouver, BC. His family later moved to Montreal, where his teenage years revolved around soccer, volleyball and his childhood sweetheart, Marney. They married at the age of 20, the beginning of more than 50 wonderful years of marriage.
He began his career at MacMillan Bloedel in Thunder Bay and later moved to the Ottawa Valley, where he spent many years working at AECL’s nuclear power plant. Throughout his career, he found himself in positions of leadership, where he enjoyed the opportunity to mentor others.
In Vernon, BC, he found a new home and community of friends. He’d looked forward to retirement as a time to focus on the things that brought him the greatest joy: music, pursuit of knowledge, and long-distance running. He also discovered a love of two new sports: pickleball and lawn bowling. A natural athlete and competitor, Scott not only found enjoyment in the competition but valued the people he met as much as the games themselves.
Scott lived a life defined by his integrity, quiet strength, thoughtful wisdom, and devotion to the people he loved. He will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by all those whose lives he touched.
A celebration of Scott's life will be held at 2pm on Monday, July 27, 2026, at the Vernon Yacht Club. 7919 Okanagan Landing Rd, Vernon, BC.
