Shirley was born in West Bend, Saskatchewan on March 31, 1935 to Thomas & Violet Hoover. Shirley passed away peacefully July 13, 2022 in Vernon Jubilee Hospital.
Shirley is survived by her husband of 66 years, Herbert Dill. Along with her daughter Betty (Tom) Stanbrook, and 2 sons Gary (Gayle) and Wayne (Susan). She has 3 grandchildren, Jim (Syd), Robyn, Kodie (Erin) and 1 great grandson, Tommy.
Shirley was from a family of 8 siblings with many nieces and nephews that she loved to spend time and have fun with. She is survived by her sisters Jean in Barr Head, Lorraine in Peace River and brother Bruce (Dianne) in Calgary.
Her family moved to the Okanagan in 1939 and then to Enderby in 1946 where she later met the love of her life Bert. Shirley & Bert were married in May of 1956 and lived in Burnaby, BC where they raised their 3 children.
There was never a shortage of family and friends around. Dinners out at aunts and uncles, picnics in Stanley Park with baseball games in the fields and many camping, fishing and ski trips.
In 1992 they decided to return to the Okanagan and moved to Vernon where they spent their retirement.
Shirley and Bert loved to camp, fish, hunt, travel, curl and golf and spend time with family and friends. She was referred to as “Ma Dill” by many.
Shirley’s smiling face and ability to make people smile will be deeply missed by everyone.
A service will be held on a date later in the fall in Vernon.
