It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Terry Barrows, after a long battle with farmer’s lung. Terry was the beloved husband of Pauline (nee Clayton). In May 2025, they celebrated 55 years of marriage.
Terry was raised on the family farm near Cochrane, AB and graduated from Cochrane High School in 1965. In 1969, he received a Mechanical Engineering degree from the University of Calgary. Terry worked in the oil and gas industry all of his career. He retired as Vice President of Engineering and Operations for Encal Energy in Calgary, 2001.
After retirement, Terry and Pauline spent their winters in Arizona and California and travelled extensively overseas. In 2021, they relocated to Vernon, BC to enjoy the milder climate.
Terry was a kind and loving husband, father, grandfather and friend. Besides Pauline, Terry is survived by his son and daughter-in-law, Ryan and Ellie and granddaughter Julie; Son-in-law Jason Carmichael and grandchildren Paige and Grady, and his sister Diana. Terry was predeceased by his daughter Krista Carmichael in 2022, and by his parents Lionel and Betty.
At Terry’s request, no funeral service will be held and in lieu of sending flowers please make a donation to the Canadian Lung Association.
