Wayne Bernard Frocklage

Wayne was born in Nelson, British Columbia, in 1950 to Gladys and Ben Frocklage. He went on to have a long and successful career with CP Rail as a locomotive engineer. After retiring, Wayne settled into the life he truly loved—farm life—with his wife, Barb.

Wayne loved everything about farming. He enjoyed raising and showing cattle, working the land, and especially making hay. Anyone who knew Wayne knew the tremendous pride he took in his hay. He wanted it done right, and there was great satisfaction for him in looking out over a field of beautiful hay after a good day’s work.

In 2018, Wayne and Barb moved to Falkland, where they purchased their farm on Cedar Hill Road. There, Wayne continued raising cattle, making hay and enjoying country life.

Some of Wayne and Barb’s happiest times were spent close to home—fishing, quadding, working around the farm and sharing plenty of fun and laughter along the way.

Wayne also loved curling and curled in Langley, Vernon and Falkland. It was one of his many passions and brought him wonderful friendships and many good memories over the years.

Wayne was also an avid card player and always enjoyed a good game. He was especially fond of crib—and those who played with him might say he was just a little too good at it! Cards brought out Wayne’s competitive side and were the source of many good times, laughs and friendly rivalries.

Wayne will be deeply missed by his loving wife, Barb; his stepchildren, Stephanie (Callum), Erin and Michael; his stepson, John (Wendy); his sister, Charlyne, who was a wonderful sister; his many grandchildren; and his nieces, nephews, cousins, family and friends whose lives he touched.

Wayne was a hardworking man who loved his farm, took great pride in what he did, and enjoyed the simple pleasures of country life.

A heartfelt expression of gratitude goes out to all those who supported Wayne throughout the last couple of years, and especially to the staff at Hospice in Vernon, who showed Wayne and our family such kindness, compassion and support throughout his final months.

We miss Wayne dearly, but we hold our memories of him, and the love we shared, close to our hearts. He will never be forgotten.
