James was born on February 11, 1942, in Greenville to the late Hubert R. & Mary Jeanette (Hoover) Short. James is also preceded in death by a son, James Short; great granddaughter, Opal McGhee; and sister, Nancy L. Wallace.
James is survived by his companion, Judy K. Byers of Greenville; children, Denis & Roberta Short of Arcanum, Jeanne Phlipot & Glenn Morris of Versailles, Donald & Betsy Short of Englewood, Jimmy & Rebecca Short of Pioneer, and Jacquie Short of Pioneer; numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren.
James served in the U.S. Navy during the Vietnam War. He was a DJ at WDRK and WMVR Radio Stations. James was a member of the Ansonia American Legion and the Celina Eagles. James was an avid fan and collector of Elvis Presley.
A celebration of James’s life will be held Sunday, March 8, 2026, from 1:00 to 3:00 pm at the Ansonia American Legion. Arrangements have been entrusted to Bailey Zechar Funeral Home in Versailles.
