Samantha Brooke Smith

Sam was born on July 17, 1995, in Greenville to Michael Smith of Versailles and Brenda (Simon) Smith of Versailles.

Sam is survived by a big family who loves her deeply, including both of her parents, her siblings, Jason & Jill Smith, Christina Fullenkamp, Jessica Smith, Daniel Smith, and Casey Smith & Ryan Peters; nieces and nephews, Bradley Fullenkamp, Shelby Smith, Jamison Purpus, Carter Fullenkamp, Mason Smith, Reese Fullenkamp, Brennan Smith, Jaxon Corner, and Cooper Corner; maternal grandmother, Mary Ann Simon; and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.

Samantha was preceded in death by her paternal grandparents, Edgar & Evelyn Smith; maternal grandfather, Bernard “Bud” Simon; brother-in-law, Brandon Corner; and cousins, Jason and Keith Froning.

Sammy was a 2013 graduate of Versailles High School. She was known for her vibrant red curls and bright blue eyes. And she had a special way of communicating without words that built many close friendships over the years. Sam enjoyed watching movies, especially Tinkerbell, Merida in Brave, and Anna in Frozen. She rejoiced in visitors, and would follow along watching parties, balloons, babies, and children. She liked to have her nails painted and never hesitated to smile at a cute boy.

Sam was, along with some of her sisters and niece, a Swiftie. So, in the words of Taylor Swift, “Hold on to the memories. They will hold on to you.”

A funeral service will be held at 6:00 pm Thursday, October 9, 2025, at Bailey Zechar Funeral Home in Versailles. The family will receive friends on Thursday from 4:00 to 6:00 pm at the funeral home. A private Celebration of Life will follow the funeral services.
