April 17, 1921 – 15 August 2017
Rip Repesse passed away peacefully on August 15, 2017 at The Royal Jubilee Hospital in Victoria, B.C.
Rip’s life, love and memory will be forever celebrated by Florence, his loving wife of 72 years, his son Richard (Penny) Repesse of Lake Cowichan, daughter Gaile (Frank) Smith of Nelson, B.C., six grandchildren - Gerry, Rod, James, Troy, Amber and Doni, as well as 17 great-grandchildren.
His early career was quite diverse. He worked at the mill in Youbou , a coal mine in Nanaimo, and managed a service station prior to joining the Air Force during WWII. On his release he became a Special Constable for the first parking meters in Nanaimo. He was also a fireman prior to settling into his 27 year career with The Motor Vehicle Branch, which took him from Nanaimo to Courtenay and finally Victoria where he retired in 1976 to pursue his passion for golf.
The family is grateful for the kindness and support of neighbours, friends and caregivers. At Rip’s request, there will be no service. In lieu of flowers, a donation to The British Columbia Lung Association, or charity of choice would be appreciated.
It is now Rip’s time to teach the angels to drive and golf.
