After growing up in Nova Scotia, Genny spent many happy years in Barrie, Ontario, where she built lifelong friendships and created a home that was always open to family, friends, and anyone in need of a warm welcome. In 2021, she moved to Victoria, British Columbia, to be closer to her children, where she enjoyed being surrounded by family during her later years. Although she embraced her new home on the West Coast, Nova Scotia always held a special place in her heart, and her many relatives there will miss her dearly.
Genny was a devoted and beloved mother to Barbara Levesque, Tom Hopper, Martin Hopper, and Annie Hopper, and a cherished mother-in-law to Barb Hopper and James Tozer. She was a proud and loving grandmother to Chris Levesque, Rob Levesque, Anita Levesque, Matthew Hopper, and Cameron Hopper, and an adoring great-grandmother to Levi, Cain, Othelia, Kara, and Darren Hopper, and Gemma Levesque. She also had a special place in her heart for Annie's beloved puppies, Bella and Willow, whose companionship brought her great comfort, happiness, and many smiles.
Known for her cheerful spirit and generous heart, Genny's door was always open to anyone in need of a helping hand, a listening ear, or simply a warm cup of coffee and friendly conversation. She had an extraordinary ability to make people feel welcome, accepted, and loved.
An avid baker, Genny delighted in filling her home with the aromas of freshly baked treats, always finding joy in sharing them with family, friends, and neighbours. Whether enjoying a spirited game of cards, visiting with loved ones, or lending a compassionate ear to a friend, she found happiness in life's simple moments and in bringing people together.
Above all else, Genny treasured her family. Nothing brought her greater joy than spending time with those she loved, celebrating milestones, sharing stories, and creating cherished memories that will be carried forward for generations.
Genny will be remembered for her unwavering kindness, infectious smile, gentle wisdom, and the love she so freely gave. Her life was a beautiful example of generosity, compassion, and quiet strength.
She will be deeply missed by her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, family in British Columbia, and her extended family and many dear friends in Ontario and Nova Scotia. Though our hearts are heavy with her loss, we are forever grateful for the countless memories she leaves behind and for the love, kindness, and generosity that will continue to inspire us.
Forever loved. Forever remembered.
