Allan will be lovingly remembered and missed by his two daughters Mellissa Kraft (James Morrissey) and Alana Kraft (Erin Mullane); his three grandchildren Benjamin, Connor and Kate; his brothers Rick (Bev) Kraft and Jim (Linda) Kraft; his in-laws Patricia Towne, Mary Lou (Rick) Eastman, Debra (Daryl) Haeusler, Darlene (Dean) Currie, Kevin (Liz) Petersen; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Allan was predeceased by his loving wife of 52 years, Janice; and his parents Jake and Hilda Kraft.
Allan was born and raised in Saskatoon, SK. Growing up he enjoyed sports, going to the movies, outdoor activities and he appreciated time with his grandpa Thomas, especially hunting and fishing.
Allan met Janice at the Bank of Nova Scotia in Saskatoon and they were married in 1967. The couple moved many times making close and lasting friendships along the way.
Vacations in the early years centered on family and the outdoors. Road trips to Saskatchewan and camping in British Columbia and Alberta brought fun and adventure. Skiing and Christmas trips to Banff were family highlights.
Allan loved the outdoors. He especially loved nature and wildlife and always had a passion for photography. He was involved in a local photography club and went on many adventures in search or eagles, other wildlife and the magnificent scenery of Vancouver Island.
Allan was an avid golfer, another connection to being outdoors. He insisted on walking the course, making golf a workout and appreciation of the beauty all around him.
He also loved to travel. Whether it was a road trip to Alberta or an international flight to board a cruise ship, Allan loved exploring and learning, especially with his family beside him on the journey.
Allan followed sports throughout his life and was an avid Edmonton Oilers fan. He especially loved being actively involved with his children and then grandchildren’s sporting endeavours.
Allan and Janice were both “dog people.” They had a special fondness for West Highland Terriers and had many through the years.
We will all miss Allan’s passion for family and friends, kindness, determination, and of course the latest updates about the Oilers.
At his request, a virtual Celebration of Life will be held on a later date.
Allan was very grateful for the care he received at the end of his life, you may make donations in his memory to Victoria Hospice, Victoria Hospital Foundation or to Westie Rescue of Canada, another cause he was passionate about.
