With deepest sorrow and overflowing love, we share the passing of our mother, Anne Myrna.
Born in Belfast, Ireland, Anne lived a life shaped by courage, curiosity, and compassion. She was proud to be a registered nurse and later earned a second degree in social work. Her work at the Foothills Hospital in Calgary was an extension of her heart—supporting patients and families in distress with her calm, steady, and fearless presence. She helped so many simply by being who she was.
Anne was the mother of three daughters, Carol, Mary, Susie and the grandmother of Imogen. As a single mother in the 1970s, Anne stood strong and fought for Women’s rights through the Status of Women Movement. She instilled her belief in the importance of Women and taught her daughters inner strength, to speak their truth and be who they truly are.
Later in life when she was diagnosed with multiple sclerosis she once again meet this challenge with grace and determination, never allowing the illness to diminish her spirit.
Anne found joy in all genres of music, she was an excellent piano player and loved the simple everyday beauty that others often overlooked. She adored all of the cats and dogs in her life and they always knew a pure spirt and friend in Anne.
Anne also held deep gratitude for the people who helped her in her later years. A special heartfelt thank you goes to Jim Bradley, whose unwavering care, compassion, and friendship made such a difference in Anne’s later years.
Anne passed peacefully, surrounded by love, her hand held and her importance spoken aloud by her three daughters.
Now free to dance, free to play piano, free to travel without her bodily limitations.
Before she passed, she told her daughters she would return as a ladybug; so if one lands near you, please say hello to Anne.
Forever our Mother, forever in our hearts, forever loved, forever missed.
We love you Mom, Chibby 1
