Tina was predeceased by her husband (Herb), son (Wayne) and six siblings. She is survived by her son John (Patti), five grandchildren, nine great grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.
Tina lived a long and happy life, surrounded by many family members and friends who cherished her. She was born on her parents’ homestead at Okeover Arm (near Lund, BC, about 25 km north of Powell River). Tina left the Powell River area in 1940 at the age of 16 to move to Victoria. There, she worked at several interesting jobs and met her future husband, Herb, in 1945. She and Herb were happily married for 54 years, until his passing in 2000. Tina and Herb had two sons, Wayne and John. Tina found great joy in many activities, including cooking, canning, entertaining, reading, fishing, gardening, sewing and shopping. One of her favourite activities was to get on the bus and head into downtown Victoria where she would putter around the second-hand stores and antique shops. She enjoyed amazingly good health throughout her life, and never lost her spirit of adventure. Forever fun-loving, Tina was always up for a party or other social gathering. The past year was spent living at the Kensington, where she continued to enjoy all the people and activities there. Tina will be deeply missed by all the many relatives and friends who knew and loved her. In keeping with Tina’s wishes, there will be no memorial service. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Canadian Diabetes Association.
Many thanks go to all the health care professionals who provided such kind and compassionate care for Augustine at the end of her life.
