Barry was born in Leeds, Yorkshire, England. His mother, Edith and stepfather Vic brought him to Canada in 1951 with his brother Paul and half-brother Dale, settling in Victoria.
Barry married his Yorkshire sweetheart Audrey in 1955 (div. 1974)
They had four children, Michael, Wayne, Janine and Mark.
He owned two popular bakeries, Robertshaw Pies, and Barry's Specialty Pies.
Barry was also an accomplished singer and actor, appearing in many productions with Victoria Operatic Society, Bastion Theater, and Langham Court.
He ended his working life as a Deputy Sheriff with the provincial Sheriff's Services.
He will be missed by his family, his longtime dear friend and companion Sandra Vichert, and his very good friend Rick Adams.
There will be a private remembrance at a date yet to be determined.
