

Betty Macnaughton passed away on Friday, July 10, 2026. She was born April 30, 1931 at Royal Columbian Hospital, New Westminster. She grew up in Cloverdale. Her mother passed away when she was two years old. She is predeceased by her father, Ronald Reginald Macnaughton. She also had a sister and a stepbrother.
From an early age Betty’s goal was to become a nurse. She obtained her RN from the nursing program at Vancouver General. She continued taking courses at the University of British Columbia earning her BSn. She nursed at Royal Columbian Hospital soon becoming a head nurse. She moved to Montreal and became a nurse at Montreal General. She worked in a program teaching doctors how to practice Family Medicine. She became a Director of Nursing becoming proficient in French.
When she lived in Montreal she was a member of an outdoor club hiking and skiing in the Laurentians, the Eastern townships and Vermont.
When she retired she moved back to BC to Victoria. She became a Docent at the Royal British Columbia Museum in school programs and adult tours doing this for 16 years. She sang in a choir and volunteered gardening at Government House.
Betty was an avid reader and learner. She continued taking adult learning courses at the University of Victoria.
