We are so sorry to hear of cousin Catherine's passing.  She was an amazing lady and always a joy to chat with.  Our thoughts are with you Diane and the rest of your family at this sad time.  (Catherine's cousin Mary and my Ralph siblings).



So very sad to hear of Kay’s passing . We were privileged to have Kay and Jim has our neighbours. After Jim’s passing we got to know each other over many tea and cookie afternoons while reminiscing of her life and family memories . She was strong willed ,loved her independence and always looked her best ! She was kind hearted and considerate to everyone. She was a remarkable woman ,wife ,mother and grandmother. I have many fond memories of my Aunt Kay. From the many Christmases shared with my Dad's side of the family to visits with the "gang" at Tim Hortons on my lunch breaks from work.  She was always so kind & loving to all in her family.  I wasn't able to visit her over the last two years  due to the Pandemic but thought of her often. I had a very nice telephone conversation with her last year, she seemed confused but knew who I was and I am happy that I had that opportunity to tell her that I loved her one more time. She will be missed but never forgotten. I want to offer my deepest condolences to my cousin Diane & her family & hope that all your wonderful memories of your Mom will comfort you during this time. Diane and I share a bond through our mothers who became fast friends first as neighbors sharing coffee on a regular weekly basis.  No matter what came up or where their lives and moves took them, they remained in touch. During the last few years they both became widows and shared a common bond supporting each other through many major changes adjusting to new living arrangements and giving up much that they had known for many years.  Diane and I did our best to keep them connected as long as possible and feel privileged to have had the example of such a long and special friendship. It was such an honor hearing what a wonderful mother you are. You raised a beautiful daughter. Diane shared her love and respect for you through many memories and stories that I was honored to hear. Bev & her family (the Carlow's) go back many many years with the Ralph's.  We have so many fond memories of Catherine, Jim and family.

I am so sorry to read of Kay’s passing in the Times Colonist today. Jim, Dale and Diane, the 3 of you went to Royal Oak school when I did; memories of your family reach far back. I also remember Kay and Jim from my days associated with the VLC Credit Union. They made a beautiful couple on the floor at VLC dances, for some of which I played the music as a member of the duo ‘Crystal Blue’. I can see them now…

I was privileged to share the last two years of Catherine’s life.  As we got to know each other she would often reminisce and share past memories most often centering on family life, raising her children and of course her  husband Jim.   She was a woman of strong character and conviction and never lost her desire to remain as independent as possible.  She took pride in being well groomed, with coordinated outfits, earrings on, bright red  polish on nails she was proud of.  She looked forward to the many outings we went on, adventures she called them.  Long drives around the countryside with stops at beaches and parks.  She would point out schools she had attended, and the  homes of her youth and married life.  She enjoyed reading out the street signs as we went along, sometimes correcting me if she thought I took a wrong turn.   We often ended up at a favourite place Beacon Drive In for ice cream.   She did love her ice cream treats!  Catherine spoke often of her daughter Diane and   looked forward to their daily phone calls  as a touchstone and way to keep their connection close.   The devotion they had to each other was heartwarming.   Diane always went that extra mile to make sure her beloved mother was well cared for and did whatever it took to advocate for her.    I will miss you  Catherine and hope you are reunited at last with your Jim  —  see you in the movies!    Cathleen








I remember, over 65 yrs ago, our empty property lots at Royal Oak where the Bellavance and Kidd houses were to be built side-by-side.  I (Ginny) could have been 2 or 3 yrs old.  Our many years as neighbours and friends is monumental.  Kay (Catherine) has now joined her husband, Jim and my parents Marg and Abbie to continue their weekly Saturday 10:30 am coffee parties.
