

Chris Tomaschuk passed away peacefully at home on July 7, 2023, with her family by her side. She was born in Montreal, Quebec on June 30, 1933 to Haralambos and Rubina Xenos, both from Zakynthos, Greece. She grew up in the Greek community with her siblings, Mary, Denis and Tassi.
Chris completed her teaching credential in Montreal and proceeded to teach for 30 years. She became a lifetime socialist with the NDP.
She moved to Edmonton, Alberta where she married Henry Tomaschuk. They were happily married for 13 years. After Henry’s death, she retired with her partner, John Preidt to Victoria, BC.
She was a master weaver. Through her love of teaching and weaving, she taught many to weave. She attended her first Greek Fest as she was looking for a place to practice her Greek. Chris became active in the Greek Museum and at Greek Fest, where she offered up herself and her weaving students to demonstrate weaving.
Chris was predeceased by her parents, her husband, her partner and her sister Elizabeth. She is survived by her siblings.
A Celebration of her Life will be held at First Memorial Funeral Services, 4725 Falaise Drive, Victoria, BC on Thursday, July 13, 2023 at 10:00 am.
