David Michael Alexander Bacon

BACON, David Michael Alexander, beloved brother, uncle, great-uncle and friend, passed away peacefully on September 9, 2026 in Victoria, BC. David was predeceased by his parents George and Daisy, and by his siblings John, Joan, Tiny, Lilian, Heather and George. He will be greatly missed by sister Jordan (Nick), nephews Bob, Jason (Jennifer), and Jeff (Richenda), nieces Jennifer (David) and Kristal (Daron), and great-nieces and great-nephews.

David lived in Victoria, BC, then moved to Prince George, where he lived with his brother John. After John’s passing, Dave returned to Vancouver Island, and moved to Campbell River. Dave had worked alongside his brother John prospecting, and later worked for his dear friend Serge.

Dave was always a self-reliant spirit with great compassion for others. He loved his independence, sports, music and above all, his family and friends. While living in Victoria, Dave was a passionate softball player, and while his health allowed, he was quite the golfer. Hockey was another lifelong interest, accompanied by a decidedly love-hate relationship with the Vancouver Canucks.

Dave loved rock and roll and took particular pleasure in teaching his nephews its subtleties, introducing them to what he called “the good stuff”. Self-taught on the piano, he could settle into the groove of “Light My Fire”. His enthusiasm extended to time spent with family whether playing Dungeons & Dragons or enjoying a good round of Yahtzee.

Dave genuinely cared about people. He was always involved with unhoused people, wherever he lived, and often informally visited with them, bringing breakfast and coffee. Dave offered his family friendship, enthusiasm and companionship and remained interested in what was happening in their lives. He kept in contact with friends and family over the years through Facebook, which became an important way for him to remain connected to those he cared about.

Thanks to First Memorial and thanks especially to the doctors and staff of the Campbell River Hospital and the Royal Jubilee Hospital for their care of Dave.
