Born July 11, 1951, in Victoria, BC, David was predeceased by his father Bill in 1994, and his mother Cecille in 2002. David is survived by his loving wife and best friend Lynn, daughters Jennifer and Cindy (Greg), grandchildren Christie, Elijah and Bethany, sisters Donna (Gordon) and Dale, nieces and nephews and many good friends and acquaintances.
Growing up in Oak Bay, David was very active in Boy Scouts as a child, being adept at picking up new skills and helping and teaching others.
During his career, David worked for the City of Victoria from 1973-2011 for 38 years, going from a labourer to a camera operator, inspecting the Sewer Infrastructure. He was very active in the Search & Rescue organization for many years. He was integral to training others that would go on to become future fire fighters, that of which he was very proud.
David was known for being great with animals of all types, which they responded positively to his calm and gentle nature. He also enjoyed listening and playing music on the guitar with his friends, encouraging his daughter's love for the piano just like his mother.
Renovating their home with his wife Lynn, was a source of great pride and accomplishment as well. His knack for learning things on the fly allowed him to initially rewire the entire house, as well as many other side projects that kept challenging him to think outside the box. It was very important to him to build a dream kitchen for his wife that had enough space for her to enjoy baking and cooking.
Special thanks to Dr. Alexandre Henri-Bhargava, Jeanne Tolmie Social Worker, Dawn the nurse at the Memory Clinic, Dr. Birdie Attending Physician at Royal Jubilee and all the very patient and caring ER staff at a very difficult time.
