David was a remarkable man who truly lived and experienced all that life had to offer. He understood that we are given only one life, and he made sure to embrace it fully. His adventures took him across the globe, where he experienced new places, cultures, and people, always with an open heart and an eagerness to discover what was around the corner. David was a man of many talents, including being a remarkably gifted wood carver. Through his carvings, he created many beautiful pieces that reflected and honoured his Indigenous heritage, leaving behind not only works of art, but pieces of himself and his story.
He was charismatic, warm, and endlessly curious about people. David had a gift for making friends wherever he went and cherished the many friendships he formed throughout his life. There is truly so much that could be said about David, his accomplishments, his adventures, his talents, and the countless stories that will continue to be told about him. But above all else, Dave's greatest pride and joy was his family. He believed and found meaning in loving his family. Together, he and Donna built a life filled with tranquility, beauty, and love, a life they could be deeply proud to have created together. That same love extended to his children and grandchildren, whom he supported unconditionally, always encouraging them to pursue their dreams and reminding them that they could achieve anything they set their hearts and minds to.
Thank you, Dad/Papa, for the life you lived and for the countless ways you made ours more beautiful. Thank you for teaching us to be brave enough to explore, open enough to embrace possibility, and present enough to stop, look around, and truly enjoy the moment. We will miss you until the end of our days. Our hearts may feel empty without you, but they are also beautifully full, with every memory, every lesson, every story, and every piece of love you left behind.
We will carry you with us always, until the day we get to see you again.
