I am so sorry to hear of Mrs. Shaughnessy's passing.  I fondly remember her from my days in Tillicum  in the 70's.  She was a lovely lady and a true beauty.  May you all find peace and strength in your memories.

Doreen Shaughnessy, The legend of Tillicum Elementary. She was so much more then just the school secretary she was the heart and sole, the backbone of the school. She was always smiling and willing to help or just listen if you needed a friend. I continued to be friends with her in adult life and she is just as beautiful and funny outside of school as she was in. I wish her family the deepest condolences. My school legend will be greatly missed.  Rest in paradise my friend, our beloved Mrs. Shaunghessy ❤

To the family, Doreen was a force of nature. Her smile always made me think she knew a special joke but it was her love and acceptance that was shining out.  
I never felt “bad” about going to the office because Doreen was so welcoming. Her forthrightness was a joy. She called it as she saw it. 
I am sure Doreen will be missed by many as she touched the lives of many.

I met your Mom at Tillicum school in 1980.  She was a fun-loving, kind and caring person.  I worked as a special assistant at Tillicum, but with her encouragement I also became a school secretary.  
I also remember all the great parties her and your dad hosted.
A lovely lady who will be missed by many.

Dear Denise and Debbie,
      I was sorry, but not shocked to hear about Doreen's passing.  It is 2 years since I had seen her and was broken hearted then, to see the type of life she was living.  We had so many wonderful years with her at Tillicum and the "Tally Ho" meetings were the best.  I was always impressed when the 2 of you would come to have a beer with your parents.  She was also instrumental in getting our  Legion Lunches going for the past 29 years.  So many wonderful memories and she will be fondly remembered by all of Tillicum Staff, whenever we meet each other.  Love to both of you,  Barrie

I'm so sorry to hear of your mother's death.  I was one of the Tillicum Parents for 10 years, and Doreen was a big part of why we parents felt so welcomed.  Staff and parents, we were one big family.  When you mentioned her booming voice and laughter, an image of her standing in the office talking and laughing with us, flashed in my mind, just as you said.  Good times and good memories.

So sad to hear of Doreen’s passing. Doreen and Don were great neighbours. I loved that when I borrowed enough pantry items from them they created a CRINGLE shelf in their garage. I would buy extra and put it on the shelf, this way Don said I didn’t have to borrow of them.
We have missed them both over the years and the street was never the same since Doreen left.
I am glad she will be reunited with the love of her life and the many friends who went before her.

Margaret and I spent a number of good years with Doreen and Don on Layritz Place and also touched base in Cuba. Doreen was a tour de force on the block and we have missed her. Girls, I'm sorry I can't share that last toast to your Mom. Say hello to Carly for us. Cheers and be well.

Sending my sincere condolences to all of Doreen's family, she and Don were the heart of Layritz Place while residents here, have such good memories of times spent with them especially the Halloween parties that they hosted for the street for many years. Doreen was the Captain of the Block watch for many years and made sure that we were all informed of any events. She had such a great laugh and wonderful smile we missed her presence in the neighborhood.  Many she rest in peace and that you take comfort in knowing of how well she was thought.
