Dorothy “Joyce” Robertson passed on December 15th, 2025. Born in Nanaimo, BC on September 30, 1937. Joyce was predeceased by her loving husband James Robertson, parents Fred and Margaret, sister Donna and brother Donald. She leaves behind her brother Dean (Joanne) and 2 children Barb Mollberg (Dan) and Mark Robertson (Loralee). Joyce, aka “Nanny”, especially loved spending time with her grandchildren Carly, Katie, Lucas, Chase, Faye, Sydney, Wesley and Joe. Always putting a smile on her face were her nine great grandchildren Jordyn, Aria, Annika, Maicey, Lily, Grace, Frankie, Olivia and Danny. All of whom called her “little Nanny”, which she adored hearing. She always looked forward to the large family gatherings so she could see all of her kids (big and little). Joyce had a full happy life, right through to her 88th year.
Joyce started her working career at Eaton’s in Nanaimo as a teenager, which she loved to reminisce and talk about. After marrying Jim they moved to Victoria and she was a stay at home Mom for several years. She worked a few years at Simpsons-Sears Department Store, followed by a position within the Legislative Library Catalogue Department . She enjoyed her job immensely, as well as the people she worked with in the Library. A job that spanned over 20 years.
Joyce and Jim travelled extensively throughout the years and when they were not travelling they enjoyed spending time in their garden together and entertaining friends with wonderful dinner parties.
Joyce is going to be missed very much by her family and friends. She loved all of us as much as we all loved her. We will cherish all of the happy memories we have of Joyce, Mom, Nanny, and Little Nanny for the rest of our lives. She’ll be happy to be back with Jim and we can all just imagine them dancing and laughing together once again.
Celebration of Life to follow at a later date.
If desired a donation can be made in memory of Joyce to the Alzheimer’s Society of BC
