It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Liz Curnow-Kamper, who is survived by her daughter Susie and son Roland, sisters Joyce and Wendy, and extended family in Canada and the U.K. She was a very proud Gma and GG to her beloved Andrea, Coleby, Maximus and Jameson.
Liz was born in Catterick, Richmond, England to John and Ada Ashforth. She was surrounded by the Yorkshire Dales during those early years, and Yorkshire remained close to her heart throughout her entire life. It was here that she met and married Jan before moving to Plymouth, in Devon, England. However, it was not too long after this that they decided to immigrate to Canada, taking up residence in Mill Bay on Vancouver Island, B.C. This was followed by a move to Victoria. Years later she met Mike and they moved up-island to Campbell River where they married and spent many years exploring the North Island. They moved to Victoria where Liz spent the remainder of her years. Her life was filled with a myriad of experiences and expertise that catered to her well-rounded personality. Her lifetime love of horses and horseback riding were of considerable importance to her, but music, poetry, gardening (English gardens), and a wicked sense of humor allowed for her many talents to flourish. Her mimicry knew no bounds, and as a raconteur she had no equal. These were indeed rare gifts.
On her last day, Liz was surrounded by the love and laughter of her close friends. Later that afternoon Liz passed away peacefully in the arms of her beloved daughter, Susie.
We extend our profound gratitude to the staff at Oakwood Manor for all their kindness and compassion.
