Beth passed away peacefully at the age of 90 at her home in Victoria. She will be greatly missed by her six children, eight grandchildren and great granddaughter. Beth was best known for her cheerful resilient nature, ready to laugh in good times, and to carry on in hard times. She was the last remaining of seven siblings born on a farm near Kitscoty, AB. She taught in a one-room school where some students arrived by horse and many played hockey on the pond when math was done.
She married Rev. Andrew Potter in 1957, and they enjoyed 43 years together before Andy’s passing in 2005. Her life was rich in friends, family, and community in Calgary before moving to a farm in Gray Creek, BC, then settling in Victoria. There, Beth joined Andy to help start the Victoria Scottish Gaelic Choir. Beth was an avid musician (harp, piano and singer), gardener and volunteer with many years of service in her church.
A Memorial Service will be held on Jan.17 at 11:00 a.m. at the Cathedral Church of St. John the Evangelist in Victoria, followed by burial at Royal Oak Burial Park, with a reception to follow. If desired, flowers may be delivered to First Memorial Services at 4725 Falaise Drive.
