Ethel is lovingly remembered by her children Stephen (Alison), Heather (Tim), and Caroline (Rob); grandchildren Rebecca (Brian), Cassandra (Fred), Alexander, MacCallum, and Harris; and great-grandchildren Beckley, Sullivan, Zoey, Ewan, and Liam.
Ethel and Maurice’s story began at a dance in Yorkshire, where they first met. In 1958, Ethel travelled to Salisbury, Rhodesia, where the two were married. Their adventurous spirit led them to Canada in 1964, where they made a loving home in many places over the years, including Toronto, Sudbury, Moose Factory, London, Ottawa, Yellowknife, Edmonton, Kelowna, and Victoria.
Ethel loved to travel, golf, Scottish country dance, and entertain good friends — many wonderful evenings were spent around the dining room table sharing laughter, stories, and good company. She will be deeply missed and forever cherished by her family and all who knew her.
We love you, Mum. We will miss you dearly but take comfort in knowing that you are once again with the love of your life.
The family would like to thank the staff at Gorge Road Long-Term Care, Arbutus Unit, for their care and support, especially over Ethel’s last few days.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Alzheimer Society in Ethel’s memory.
