He was a well known logger on Vancouver Island /High Rigger, survived by his son Fred (Rosemary) grandchild Kevin (Tracey) he was predeceased by granddaughter Kara Survived by her husband Rob and Great granddaughters Katie, Danika, Brielle, Cianna.
Fred started logging at the age of 16 when he finished grade 10, he worked at many of the fly in logging camps on Vancouver Island. After a few years of moving from camp to camp gaining more logging skills and became a high rigger he took a job on Minstrel where he met the love of his life Ruby Morris who worked in the cookhouse and before long they married. They then moved to Burnaby BC where he took a job in a saw mill built a house that was almost move in ready when someone from BC Forest Products located him and talked him into a job at Bear Creek Camp located half way between Port Renfrew and Shawinigan Lake you had to drive on a single lane dirt road to get there. He was in charge of setting up the houses for married couples.
After finishing setting up the camp he then went back logging as a high rigger, he always liked to stand on top of the spar tree after he topped it. He finished his career as a trainer for the new young men entering the logging industry.
