I sailed with Fred for quite a few years on the CCGC Ready. When I left to work for CHS on the Parizeau it was Fred that broke us out of the ice in the arctic when he skippered the Camsell. Fred was a Master Mariner and one of the best I went to sea with. I will sadly miss him. My most sincere condolences to his family. Len Burton,Second Engineer CCGC Ready.

Captain Wedgewood was one of the best men I had the privilege to sail with. I sailed with him on the CCG. Alexander Mackenzie. He was always considerate to all his crew members regardless of ones position on board. He was a great man.

Uncle Fred was the last of my Dad's (Cecil) brothers and we are sorry he is gone. We had hoped to see him at our daughter's wedding in February but he was in the process of moving. We had a good telephone conversation at the time however. He will be missed by friends and family alike.

 I had the privilege of sailing with this wonderful and kind person. He was the Master of his ship and never let anyone feel inferior, a rare quality. I find myself fortunate for having met him just for a brief moment in my career.

Sailed on the Sir James Douglas with Fred in 1957, very quiet but was always thinking, picked us out of the water at Pender Harbour BC after a barge we were on flipped over.

We will always cherish the lovely memories of spending time in Fred's company.  He was  a gentleman  and a very dear cousin. He will be very sadly missed by Glynis, Michael, Rachel & Adrian  from UK.

We always enjoyed visiting with Fred. We enjoyed his interesting stories.  Family was important to him.
We will all miss him.
