Pre-deceased by his loving parents; George (1994), Irene (2002), and his brother Ross (1971). George was a good son & especially helpful to our mom after our dad was gone.
George is survived by Gail, his loving wife of 36 years, sister Shari Griffis (Ron), nieces Kristy & Carly.
George was born Oct 10, 1952 in Regina, Sask. In 1958 our parents with three children in tow moved to Victoria settling in Oak Bay where George attended schools & graduated from Oak Bay Senior.
A highlight of his senior year was attending EXPO 70 in Japan & performing there as a member of the Oak Bay Senior High School Concert Band.
George was a longtime resident of Victoria, settling himself in the Gonzales area in the ‘70’s & remaining there in his home until his health issues required full time care. An Oak Bay boy at heart, George liked to spend time at the Oak Bay Rec Centre & that is where he met Gail. They married in 1989 & had many happy years together.
George loved music. He played & repaired many instruments, even building guitars for himself. He worked in our family business Hall-Fairfield Music store for many years & then moved onto electrical work & installing sound systems.
George was a hands on guy - he loved tools, building, fixing, creating, everything mathematical, scientific & electronic, working on computers & solving puzzles.
George was loving & kind hearted, a quick wit with a great sense of humour. We will miss him. Our solace is that after several years of declining health, battling & recovering from cancer he is finally free!
Farewell until we meet again!
By George’s Request - No Service & his ashes will be scattered.
