

Gian Kaur Bola was born on September 7, 1931, in the village of Madda, District Hoshiarpur, Punjab, India. In the fall of 1958, she immigrated to Victoria, British Columbia, where she built a life rooted in hard work, faith, family, and community.
A devoted wife, loving mother, cherished grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and friend, Gian Kaur dedicated her life to caring for those around her. She was predeceased by her beloved husband Piara Singh Bola on April 16, 2000, and carried on with remarkable strength and resilience.
She is lovingly remembered by her five children: daughters Surjit Bhondi, Sindy Dheri, and Janik Bola, and sons Sony Bola and Jerry Bola. She was blessed with 13 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren, all of whom brought immense joy and pride to her life.
Gian Kaur was one of five siblings. She was predeceased by her sisters, Piari Kaur and Mohinder Kaur. She is survived by her sister, Harbans Kaur, and her brothers, Gurbax Singh Gill and Gurbachen Singh Gill, who will forever cherish her memory.
Gian Kaur was one of the hardest-working people her family knew. Throughout her life, she worked tirelessly to support her family, taking on many jobs including restaurant work and berry picking. Her determination and sacrifices helped create opportunities for future generations.
She found happiness in life's simple pleasures. She loved gardening, knitting, cooking, volunteering at the Sikh temple during various functions, going for walks, and even shredding paper—a task she took great pride in. She was always happiest when surrounded by her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Known for her unwavering strength, deep faith, and devotion to family and friends, Gian Kaur was a pillar of the Sikh community in Victoria. Her generosity, wisdom, and selfless spirit touched countless lives. She led by example, showing the importance of humility, service, and compassion.
Gian Kaur lived a long and fulfilling life, leaving behind a legacy of love, perseverance, faith, and family. Though she will be deeply missed, her memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved her.
