Manhasset, NY and graduating from Manhasset High School. Henry was a WW II
veteran, serving in the U.S. Army, in the Philippines and Okinawa.
After his honorable discharge, Henry graduated from Lafayette College in 1952
and started his long career in sales. Henry married Laura Lyons in 1953 and had
three children: Henry III, Stephen, and Suzanne Marie. His sales career required
Henry and his family to move to several states and Canada over the years, finally
settling in Huntington, NY where he raised his family and enjoyed fishing and
boating in Long Island Sound.
After his wife Laura passed in 1994, Henry moved to Florida and embarked on his
second career, cruising. It is aboard one of these early cruises he met Bonita
Russell and they married in August of 1999 and eventually moved to Victoria B.C.
Henry left us with many great memories, especially when the family would gather
at Manhasset for the holidays, and the three brothers would good naturedly mock
and joke with each other for hours.
Henry leaves his wife Bonnie and her family, as well as his son, Henry III (Karen) of
Westbrook, CT, son Stephen (Marianne) of Venice FL, and daughter Susanne Marie
Kornely (Mike) of Granville, MA. He also leaves his grandchildren: Katlyn Conkey
Bielawski (Steve) of East Haddam, CT; Henry Conkey IV of Somers CT; Stephen
Conkey (Rachael) of Levittown, PA; Kathleen Conkey; Kristine Gonet (Walter) of
Attleboro, MA; Michael Kornely (Emily) of Granville, MA. And three treasured
great grandchildren, Laura, Olivia and Caroline Gonet. He also leaves behind
nieces and nephews. In addition to his first wife Laura, Henry was predeceased by
his parents Henry and Ima Conkey Sr., and his brothers Robert and Jack.
